The estate
Founded in 1859 by the cooper Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic figure of Burgundy, located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. Its founder played a key role in 1873 in associating the name of the Montrachet cru with that of the village. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, runs this 14.5-hectare family estate. Renowned for its consistent quality and prestigious monopoles, the domaine cultivates its vines using non-certified organic methods, with a strong commitment to preserving the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from a plot located in the lower part of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, near the Morgeot Abbey. This terroir rests on clay-limestone soils. The vines, around 60 years old, benefit from environmentally friendly management. The soil is maintained through light scratching and manual work at the base of the vines, while natural grass cover is preserved after the harvest. Poussard pruning and the addition of organic amendments contribute to the longevity and balance of this vineyard.
Vinification and ageing
The fermentation of the Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2025 takes place entirely in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of 30% new wood, the rest consisting of barrels aged between one and five years. The wine then benefits from extended ageing on fine lees for a minimum of 12 months in barrels. Finally, an additional 4-month period in tanks completes the refining process before bottling, thereby enhancing the harmony and stability of the wine.
Grape variety
