The estate
Created in 1924 by Silvio Quintarelli, the eponymous estate entered a new era when Giuseppe, Silvio’s younger son, took over in the 1950s.
Considered the father of Amarone, the emblematic wine of Veneto, Giuseppe Quintarelli influenced several generations of winemakers with his innovative vision.
Located in northern Italy, in the heart of the Valpolicella region, the estate manages a 12-hectare vineyard. Produced in limited quantities, the wines stand out for their vinification using the traditional appassimento method (drying of the grapes) and for their extended aging.
The wine
Symbol of the estate’s wine range, the Amarone Valpolicella Classico from Quintarelli is a Veneto wine made only in exceptional vintages. This emblematic cuvée enchants with its refinement, its creaminess and its persistence.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, meticulously sorted in the vineyard, are then placed on wooden boxes and racks for natural drying.
When the first signs of noble rot appear between late November and early December, the grapes are gently pressed at the end of January.
An approximately 20-day maceration precedes a 45-day alcoholic fermentation carried out with indigenous yeasts.
The wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for seven years, during which additional natural alcoholic fermentations occur, reinforcing the structure and complexity of this grand cru.
Blend
Corvina and Corvinone (55%), Rondinella (30%), Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Sangiovese (15%).
