Description
The balance and texture of a Languedoc wine
The estate
Nestled in the heart of Languedoc, the Domaine Gérard Bertrand reflects its founder’s commitment to showcasing the riches of the South of France’s terroir. With a history spanning several decades, this estate is renowned for its expertise in crafting wines that powerfully and elegantly express the nuances of Languedoc’s great vineyards.
The vineyard
A cuvée paying tribute to Gérard Bertrand’s father, La Forge is a Languedoc wine from parcels located within the eponymous lieu-dit.
Comprising vines, some over a century old, this terroir belongs to Domaine de Villemajou, the historic cradle of the Bertrand family, recognized as the first classified cru of Corbières and located within the Corbières-Boutenac appellation.
The name of this wine comes from the fact that this plot brings together the elements needed for a forge: wood for the fire and water to cool the metal.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvest. Aged 10 to 12 months before bottling. An additional 12 months of aging is carried out before the bottles are released.
Blend
La Forge 2022 by Gérard Bertrand is a blend of Carignan and Syrah.
