Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the 2024 "Le Temps est Venu" from Domaine Stéphane Ogier
Tasting notes
Colour
Beautifully clear, this wine reveals a luminous ruby red hue, accented with violet glints at the edges.
Nose
The bouquet opens with a lovely intensity of small red and black fruits, such as raspberry, blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by floral touches of violet and a hint of black pepper. With aeration, herbaceous notes reminiscent of Mediterranean scrubland, thyme and bay leaf emerge.
Palate
The attack is juicy and crisp, offering generous fruit supported by a fine, silky tannic structure with a slight liquorice touch. The whole is smooth, well-structured and remarkably fresh. The long, lingering finish extends into notes of sweet spices and a delicate saline touch.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with red meats such as grilled rib steak or herb-roasted lamb. It also goes wonderfully with Mediterranean-inspired dishes, fine charcuterie, or well-aged sheep's and goat's cheeses.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate the 2024 "Le Temps est Venu", it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. Simply letting it breathe in the glass is enough to release its aromas. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve favourably until around 2032.
The elegance and generosity of a Côtes du Rhône wine from Domaine Stéphane Ogier
The estate
Located in Ampuis, at the heart of the Rhône Valley in France, Domaine Stéphane Ogier is the result of seven generations of family tradition. While Michel Ogier began estate bottling in 1983, it was his son, Stéphane Ogier, the current owner, who took over management in 1997 before registering the estate's modern structure in 2001. With an 18-hectare vineyard and a modern winery inaugurated in 2014, the estate stands out for its rigorous plot-by-plot approach, combining the precision of Burgundian techniques with the power of Rhône terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from the Visan and Plan de Dieu sectors, in the southern part of the region. This terroir within the Côtes du Rhône appellation enjoys a Mediterranean climate swept by the mistral. The vines, planted at a high density of ten thousand vines per hectare, thrive on soils composed of limestone pebbles over blue clay. The estate practices sustainable viticulture with controlled yields and exclusively hand-harvested grapes.
The vintage
2024 benefited from generous, consistent sunshine throughout the growing season. Adequate humidity and the moderating influence of the mistral helped avoid water stress, allowing for optimal berry ripening and the development of silky tannins.
Winemaking and aging
The 2024 "Le Temps est Venu" is vinified using whole bunches, without destemming, in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by maceration that allows for gentle extraction. The wine is then aged for around ten months in the same concrete tanks, a technical choice designed to preserve the brightness of the fruit and its freshness, without any oak influence.
