The Elegance and Depth of a Burgundy Wine
The Estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley stands out as one of the most iconic family-owned estates in Burgundy, France. Now led by Eve and Erwan Faiveley, representing the seventh generation, the estate oversees a vineyard of around 120 hectares spread across the region's most prestigious terroirs. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate combines respect for historical traditions with sustainable viticulture, reflecting its dedication to revealing the authentic expression of each plot.
The Vineyard
Located north of the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the historic "Porêts Saint-Georges" plot spans 0.72 hectares on a mid-slope site. Facing north, the vines thrive on soils composed of limestone and gravel, providing optimal drainage. This distinctive terroir is home to vines of varying ages, planted in 1927, 1965 and 2019, carefully cultivated according to environmentally friendly farming practices, with exclusively hand-picked harvests.
The Vintage
2024 stood out for particularly challenging weather conditions during flowering, resulting in very low yields. However, a favourable end to the growing season allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. This vintage is characterised by lovely concentration, great freshness and a vibrant aromatic profile, despite more moderate alcohol levels than usual.
Winemaking and Aging
After rigorous sorting and careful destemming, fermentation takes place in traditional temperature-controlled vats. This Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Porêts Saint-Georges" 2024 is then aged for around sixteen months in French oak barrels, with 40 to 50% new oak, to preserve a perfect balance between fruit expression and woody notes.
Grape Variety
This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir.
