Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bourgogne "Terroir d'Exception" 2024 Domaine du Château de Meursault

Tasting

Nose
Open and fresh, it reveals elegant notes of white flowers combined with toasted touches. The whole is perfectly balanced by aromas of lemon and vanilla.

Palate
Combining richness and freshness in a silky balance, the palate stands out for its exceptional minerality and great elegance. The well-structured acidity leads to a saline finish, the result of the terroir and meticulous lees aging. The overall profile proves to be smooth and complex.

Food and Wine Pairing

This cuvée pairs perfectly with gougères, a porcini mushroom risotto, or a Savoyard cheese such as tomme de montagne. More generally, it beautifully accompanies poultry, turkey, as well as rich grilled fish or shellfish prepared with a cream or butter sauce.

Service and Storage

It is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. With fine aging potential, this Bourgogne "Terroir d'Exception" 2024 can be kept and enjoyed until around 2031.

The Freshness and Minerality of a White Burgundy Wine

The Estate

Although the origins of its land date back to the eleventh century, the winegrowing estate was truly founded in the nineteenth century. Today, the Domaine du Château de Meursault spans sixty-seven hectares in the heart of the Burgundy region. Acquired in 2012 by the Halley family, it is currently run by Olivier Halley. Fully certified organic, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment and the precision of its cuvées, which earned it the title of Estate of the Year at a prestigious international competition in 2025.

The Vineyard

This wine comes from a tiny 0.87-hectare plot classified under the generic Bourgogne appellation. Located halfway up the slope and benefiting from an east-facing exposure, the vines border a prestigious neighboring cru and share similar geological conditions. They thrive on hard Jurassic limestone soils, composed of scree and white marl. The whole vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming.

The Vintage

The year began with a wet and unstable spring, bringing major climatic challenges and heavy mildew pressure until June. Faced with these demanding conditions, constant attention was paid to the vines to favor quality over quantity, resulting in modest yields. Harvesting took place from mid-September onward, under close monitoring of ripeness levels.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Bourgogne "Terroir d'Exception" 2024 begins with whole-cluster pressing. Fermentation then takes place in oak barrels. The wine finally benefits from lees aging, with bâtonnage carried out specifically to suit the personality of the cuvée in order to preserve all its delicacy.
