Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a bright ruby hue, adorned with dazzling scarlet highlights.

Nose
The nose delicately reveals aromas of fresh red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, underscored by subtle vanilla and woody notes. With aeration, notes of undergrowth, earth, and delicate floral nuances emerge.

Palate
On the palate, this red wine stands out for its silky texture and elegance. The tannins, both firm and delicate, are perfectly balanced with lovely freshness. The mid-palate, deep and fruity, extends into a lingering finish marked by fine spicy notes and a mineral touch.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs harmoniously with roasted feathered game, braised beef dishes with mushrooms, or a traditional coq au vin. It also goes wonderfully with mushroom risotto as well as well-aged regional cheeses, such as Époisses or Comté.

Service and Storage

To fully appreciate the Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 16°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but it will continue to evolve favourably until around 2038.

The Elegance and Authentic Expression of a Red Wine from Beaune

The Estate

Founded in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is a historic figure in Burgundy. Spanning a vineyard of 67 hectares, the estate has undergone a true qualitative renaissance since its acquisition by Olivier Halley in 2012. Under his leadership, the estate has adopted an environmentally responsible approach, achieving organic farming certification. Combining a rich architectural heritage with modern facilities, the estate is distinguished by its commitment to letting the authenticity of its terroirs shine through wines of great precision.

The Vineyard

The one-hectare plot that gives rise to this wine is located on the mid-slope, at the heart of the renowned climat Les Grèves, within the Beaune appellation. Facing east, the vines thrive on complex clay-limestone soils, mixed with gravel and sand, providing excellent drainage. The vineyard is farmed organically, with carefully controlled yields and an innovative agroecological approach, including the planting of a riparian forest nearby to promote biodiversity and the resilience of the vines.

The Vintage

The year began with rapid and even flowering in early June. The summer proved rather cool, punctuated by a few storms, sparing the vines from any water stress. The rains in mid-September marked a turning point, and the estate's patience—waiting for cooler weather to return before harvesting—resulted in grapes with optimal phenolic ripeness and lovely balance.

Winemaking and Aging

The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the berries, which are transported to the winery in under two hours. After rigorous optical sorting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The perfectly mastered oak ageing rounds out the structure of the Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2023, giving it subtle aromatic complexity.
