Tasting
Colour
This white wine from France reveals itself in beautiful, luminous and radiant colours.
Nose
The nose expresses a mineral and fruity bouquet, blending orchard fruit aromas such as green apple and pear with subtle floral notes. Barrel ageing brings delicate touches of hazelnut, honey and toasted vanilla.
Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its freshness, precision and sublime minerality. Its chiselled, buttery texture is perfectly balanced by tropical fruit flavours, all wrapped in a delicate oaky imprint.
Service and Storage
The Bourgogne Chardonnay "Terres de Famille" 2023 can be enjoyed in its youth for its freshness, but it will continue to develop in the bottle and can be enjoyed until around 2028.
Food and Wine Pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood gratins, white fish in sauce such as sole meunière, or poultry in cream sauce. It is also perfect as an aperitif with a few olives, or to accompany an asparagus risotto and grilled vegetables.
The Elegance and Minerality of a White Burgundy
The Estate
Officially founded in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie is a key figure in the Burgundy wine region. Located in Premeaux-Prissey, this estate spans approximately 44 hectares spread across the region's two famous slopes. Now run by Jean-Charles and Nathalie Boisset, the estate stands out for its deep and long-standing commitment to organic farming and biodynamics. Always favouring quality over quantity, the technical team crafts cuvées that express the richness and diversity of their terroirs with great purity.
The Vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from plots covering just over 1.8 hectares in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Planted in the early 1990s at a density of 3,300 vines per hectare, these vines grow on a high-altitude plateau with clay-limestone soils. The east-south-east exposure ensures optimal sunlight. The vineyard is farmed according to strict biodynamic principles, including winter ploughing and spraying with natural plant infusions to boost the vitality of the soils and vines.
The Vintage
2023 was marked by weather conditions that allowed for an unusually abundant harvest, while maintaining an almost perfect sanitary state. The harvest took place over five weeks, yielding berries with magnificent skins and optimal ripeness, ensuring a remarkable balance.
Winemaking and Aging
For the Bourgogne Chardonnay "Terres de Famille" 2023, the sorted grapes undergo a gentle, extended pneumatic pressing, followed by natural settling. The must is then transferred by gravity to undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (30% new), with lees stirring carried out in rhythm with the waxing lunar cycles. The final blend then rests for 4 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled by gravity during a waning lunar phase.
