Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2024 from Domaine de la Garenne

Tasting

Appearance
This wine displays a pale yellow hue with green highlights, characteristic of Chardonnay from the Mâconnais.

Nose
The nose opens with floral notes of white blossom, accompanied by citrus and yellow fruit, on a delicately mineral backbone.

Palate
On the palate, this wine is both generous and fresh, with a beautiful balance between richness, minerality and a touch of salinity. The long, delicate finish reveals nuances of brioche and ripe fruit.

Food and Wine Pairing
This Pouilly-Fuissé Village pairs ideally with fish in sauce and grilled red meats, as well as blue cheeses, whose power matches the wine's structure.

A Pouilly-Fuissé Village from Domaine de la Garenne, Balancing Minerality and the Freshness of the Mâconnais

The Estate
Domaine de la Garenne was founded in 1987 in Azé, in the heart of the Mâconnais in Burgundy, on a limestone wasteland overlooking the village's prehistoric cave. Taken over in 2008 by the Beaumont family, in partnership with the Devillard family of Mercurey, the estate now extends over approximately 7 hectares, entirely planted with Chardonnay. Certified Haute Valeur Environnementale, it harvests exclusively by hand and does not purchase any grapes. Recognised as an ambassador of the Mâconnais, Domaine de la Garenne distributes its wines in more than twenty countries.

The Vineyard
The Pouilly-Fuissé from Domaine de la Garenne comes from a micro-vineyard of 0.61 hectares, split between two complementary plots: La Ruère, located beneath the Rock of Solutré on a south-west-facing slope, and Le Moule, on a gentler south-east-facing slope, in the part of the village of Pouilly now classified as premier cru. The clay-limestone soils, of very high quality, provide natural drainage conducive to the expression of Chardonnay, the sole grape variety grown across the estate.

Vinification and Ageing
The Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2024 is harvested exclusively by hand, then carefully sorted before pneumatic pressing, which preserves the delicacy of the juice. Static cold settling precedes a fermentation carried out at controlled temperature. In keeping with the estate's philosophy, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and Burgundy barrels, in proportions adjusted to the characteristics of the vintage, in order to preserve the wine's freshness and aromatic purity.

Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, the sole grape variety grown across all of Domaine de la Garenne's terroirs.
