Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er cru "Vers Cras" 2022 from Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
Tasting
Colour
With a beautiful golden yellow hue, this wine reveals itself as both rich and subtly luminous.
Nose
The bouquet stands out with a striking rocky minerality, harmoniously blended with precise aromas of fruits such as ripe pear, white peach and mango.
Palate
The attack is full-bodied and perfectly balanced, carried by a finely chiselled acidity that gives it beautiful verticality. The mid-palate, silky and elegant, reveals intense fruity notes with almost tropical accents, underlined by a delicate touch of oak. The finish lingers on a refined salinity with fine exotic touches.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish such as roasted lobster, scallops or gratinated oysters. It will also enhance delicate fish in sauce, poultry in cream sauce or regional goat cheeses.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er cru "Vers Cras" 2022, serving it between 10 and 12°C is recommended. Accessible from its youth, it has a fine structure allowing it to evolve favourably in the cellar until at least 2032.
The pure and mineral expression of a great white wine
The estate
Founded in 1945 in the heart of the Mâconnais, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils is a major reference in Burgundy. Today, Christophe Cordier heads the estate, carrying on the family legacy with a modern and demanding vision. The vineyard spans 31.5 hectares divided into a mosaic of more than 120 plots. Deeply committed to the authentic expression of its terroirs, the estate stands out for its environmentally friendly practices, crowned by organic and biodynamic certifications.
The vineyard
Coming from a single 0.89-hectare plot, this cuvée originates from the prestigious climat of Pouilly-Fuissé. The vines, around 85 years old, flourish on east-facing slopes, between 240 and 260 metres in altitude. The terroir consists of a thin layer of clay resting on very stony limestone subsoils. The soil is worked using horse ploughing, and the vegetation is delicately trained to preserve the plant's balance in the face of climatic challenges.
The vintage
The year 2022 stands out as a warm vintage, offering weather conditions that favoured natural and optimal ripening of the berries, while preserving a lovely freshness.
Winemaking and aging
Manual harvesting ensures a rigorous selection of the bunches. Whole-bunch pressing is carried out gently. The juices of this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er cru "Vers Cras" 2022 are then transferred by gravity. Fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts. Aging occurs on full lees, first for 18 months in 500-litre barrels, then for 8 months in stainless steel tanks, without any lees stirring. The wine is bottled by gravity, without fining and with very light filtration.
