Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2022 Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
Tasting
Colour
The hue reveals a shade ranging from pale gold to more intense golden nuances.
Nose
Powerful and complex, the bouquet exudes aromas of citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, blended with stone fruits like peach and apricot. Subtle toasted and finely oaked touches complete this aromatic palette.
Palate
The delicate attack gives way to a full and structured mid-palate. A persistent mineral thread pairs with a lively, refreshing acidity. The long, fresh finish stretches out on a mineral signature accompanied by delicate buttery and oaked notes.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with noble shellfish such as lobster, langoustine or king crab. It also enhances pan-seared foie gras, white meats in creamy mushroom sauce, as well as matured goat cheeses. Finally, its minerality perfectly accompanies subtly spiced dishes or sushi.
Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2022 at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to improve and can be enjoyed until around 2032.
The quintessence of Pouilly-Fuissé terroir by Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
The estate
Founded in 1945 in the village of Fuissé, in the heart of the Mâconnais, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils has established itself as a key reference in Burgundy, France. Today, Christophe Cordier heads the estate, carrying on the family legacy with a constant pursuit of excellence. Under his leadership, the estate has adopted a philosophy respectful of living ecosystems, resulting in organic and biodynamic certification. With a mosaic of plots at its disposal, this producer crafts cuvées that precisely reflect the full richness of their terroirs of origin.
The vineyard
The terroir from which this Pouilly-Fuissé originates spans a plot of 1.80 hectares facing east, at an altitude ranging between 250 and 300 metres. The vines, aged between 35 and 80 years, thrive on clay-limestone soils and white marl. The vineyard is managed with extreme rigour, using short Guyot pruning, soil work by animal traction and meticulous shoot training to preserve the plant's balance in the face of climatic challenges.
The vintage
The year 2022 falls within a trend of global warming, offering hot weather conditions favourable to excellent berry ripeness. Despite this heat, cooler terroirs and a carefully chosen harvest date helped preserve a fine natural acidity, ensuring perfect balance throughout the growing cycle.
Winemaking and aging
Manual harvesting precedes a gentle whole-bunch pressing. The must is then transferred by gravity. Fermentation of the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2022 starts naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place on the original lees, first for 18 months in 350-litre barrels, then for an additional 8 months in stainless steel tanks. The wine undergoes very light filtration before bottling.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
