Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Vosne-Romanée Village "Les Champs Perdrix" 2022 Domaine Bruno Clair
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful ruby red hue, both deep and translucent.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and cherry. It then evolves towards floral touches of peony and violet, underscored by subtle spicy nuances and a minerality reminiscent of the forest floor.
Palate
On the palate, this wine offers a refined balance with a silky texture and delicate tannins. The natural acidity carries the fruity aromas, which give way, in the mid-palate, to saline, spicy and finely oaked notes. The finish is long and lingering.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with feathered game, such as a wood pigeon salad, or a refined poultry dish like a truffled Bresse chicken. It also goes very well with beef fillet, braised veal, as well as pressed cooked cheeses such as aged Gruyère or mature Comté.
Service and storage
For an optimal tasting experience of the Vosne-Romanée Village "Les Champs Perdrix" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 17°C, after decanting for one to two hours. This wine can continue to age in the cellar and will develop favourably until around 2033.
The authentic expression of a great Vosne-Romanée terroir
The estate
Founded in 1986, Domaine Bruno Clair is a key figure in Burgundy. Located in Marsannay-la-Côte, the estate spans 27 hectares spread across eight villages. Today, Bruno Clair and his family, notably his wife Isabelle and their children Édouard, Arthur and Margaux, run the domaine. Committed advocates of sustainable viticulture, they favour soil work, agroforestry and the absence of chemical herbicides. The estate is dedicated to producing elegant wines that faithfully reflect the diversity and richness of their terroirs of origin.
The vineyard
The Vosne-Romanée plot covers just over 0.8 hectares. Ideally located at 320 metres above famous grands crus, the vines benefit from an east and southeast exposure. Planted in 1948, these old vines thrive on shallow, rocky soils composed of clay and limestone, resting on a subsoil of Comblanchien limestone. The vineyard is carefully managed, incorporating physiological pruning and organic amendments to preserve natural balance.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with a cold winter and a rainy previous autumn, allowing water reserves to be replenished. Spring was dry and sunny, followed by a particularly hot and dry summer, marked by several heatwaves. Fortunately, timely rains at the end of August and beginning of September allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness while retaining a lovely freshness ahead of the harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The vinification of the Vosne-Romanée Village "Les Champs Perdrix" 2022 includes a proportion of whole clusters. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats for around fifteen days, with minimal intervention. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak carefully adapted to respect the profile of the cuvée.
