Tasting notes

Colour
With a beautiful pale yellow hue, this wine reveals subtle glints of golden-green nuances.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of white-fleshed fruits such as pear and green apple, accompanied by a touch of citrus. A pronounced minerality intertwines with delicate scents of hazelnut, almond and vanilla derived from the ageing process.

Palate
With a full and generous texture, the palate offers a lovely balance underpinned by well-judged acidity, extending into a persistent and elegant finish.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs beautifully with shellfish such as lobster or langoustine, as well as with meaty fish served with a beurre blanc sauce. It also perfectly complements creamy poultry dishes or vegetarian dishes showcasing asparagus, artichokes or mushrooms.

Service and storage

To fully enjoy this Meursault "Village" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. This wine can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2033.

The authentic expression of a white Burgundy wine by Domaine Ballot-Millot

The estate

Founded in 1630, Domaine Ballot-Millot stands out as one of the historic figures of Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this family-run estate oversees a terroir of over ten hectares. Since 2000, Charles Ballot has represented the sixteenth generation at the helm of the estate. Under his guidance, the property has moved towards sustainable farming practices, banning chemical herbicides in favour of manual soil work and initiating a transition towards organic certification, all while preserving the deep-rooted identity of its terroirs.

The vineyard

The plots dedicated to this wine are located within the Meursault appellation. The vines thrive on complex soils composed of Jurassic marl and limestone rock. The vineyard is cultivated with the utmost care, favouring manual ploughing and an environmentally respectful approach.

The vintage

The year 2023 was marked by varied climatic conditions in Burgundy. After a spring marked by the risk of frost, flowering took place under favourable conditions. The summer season then brought its share of heat and rainfall, allowing the berries to reach optimal ripeness ahead of the autumn harvest.

Winemaking and ageing

After manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes destined for the Meursault "Village" 2023 undergo meticulous winemaking. Fermentation takes place in barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for a period of sixteen to eighteen months in French oak barrels, with lees stirring to bring added complexity to the whole.
