The authentic expression of a Premier Cru from Gevrey-Chambertin
The estate
Born in 1988 from the union of Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent, Domaine A.F. Gros is a respected name in Burgundy. Today, the estate is led by the new generation: Caroline Parent oversees commercial management while Mathias Parent supervises winemaking and the vineyard. Spanning approximately 10 hectares across several prestigious appellations, the estate stands out for a philosophy that combines respect for tradition with measured innovation, always seeking to express the purity of the fruit and the identity of each terroir.
The vineyard
Historically significant, the climat from which this Gevrey-Chambertin originates benefits from an eastern exposure, offering ideal morning sunlight while avoiding excessive heat. The vines thrive on well-drained slopes composed of white marl, fossiliferous clay, and a layer of limestone resting on sand. This unique geology gives the grapes distinctive freshness and minerality.
The vintage
The year 2023 offered mild climatic conditions in Burgundy, allowing for a harmonious development of the vines. The harvest, carried out at the end of September after careful monitoring of ripeness, yielded healthy, perfectly balanced berries with lovely natural acidity.
Winemaking and aging
To craft this Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "La Combe Aux Moines" 2023, the grapes undergo a few days of cold maceration. Fermentation includes about 50% whole clusters to add extra aromatic complexity. The wine is then aged, half in ceramic amphorae to preserve the purity of the fruit, and half in French oak barrels, with a maximum of 20% new wood.
