Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Domaine 2024 Domaine A.F. Gros
Tasting
Colour
Bright and clear, the colour reveals a classic, brilliant ruby red hue.
Nose
Expressive and complex, the bouquet exudes aromas of ripe red and black fruits, marked by a touch of blackcurrant. The whole is subtly underscored by delicate notes of vanilla, spice, and liquorice.
Palate
Full-bodied and generously proportioned, the palate captivates with its fine, velvety tannins. The elegant integration of oak harmonises with a pleasant acidic freshness, leading to a notably long finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with charcuterie boards, terrines, or grilled and roasted red meats. It will also pair beautifully with feathered game, mushroom dishes, a traditional coq au vin, or washed-rind Burgundian cheeses.
Service and Storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this wine between 14 and 16°C, aerating it for 15 to 30 minutes before serving. Approachable from its early years, this Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Domaine 2024 will reveal its full complexity after a few years in the cellar and can be kept until around 2034.
The Elegance and Finesse of a Red Wine from Domaine A.F. Gros
The Estate
Founded in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent, Domaine A.F. Gros is a well-recognised estate in Burgundy. Located in Pommard, this family-run property spans around fifteen hectares divided between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Since 2013, the estate has been run by the new generation: Caroline Parent oversees commercial development, while her brother Mathias Parent manages the vineyard and winemaking. Named Winemakers of the Year in 2023, they continue a meticulous approach dedicated to revealing the true character of their terroirs.
The Vineyard
The vines for this Bourgogne cuvée thrive within the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits appellation, at an altitude ranging from 300 to 400 metres. This distinctive terroir, located to the west of the Côte de Nuits, is characterised by very fine clay-limestone soils resting on a bedrock of Jurassic limestone and marl. The estate favours sustainable viticulture that respects the surrounding ecosystems, and carries out exclusively hand-harvesting to rigorously select the finest grape clusters.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by particularly challenging climatic conditions in the region. Adverse weather events led to a drastic drop in yields, reducing volumes by around 70%. However, this challenge allowed for an extremely rigorous selection of the berries, resulting in a harvest of remarkable concentration.
Winemaking and Aging
The making of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Domaine 2024 is based on a philosophy of minimal intervention. A short cold maceration is carried out to gently extract colour and aromas. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, with a deliberately reduced proportion of new wood, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the natural expression of the terroir.
