Description
A delicious and fine rosé wine from Provence
The estate
Founded by the Templars in the 13th century and then bequeathed to the Knights of Malta, over the years, Domaine Peyrassol has become a reference among fine Provence wines.
In 2001, Philippe Austruy acquired the estate and thus perpetuated its ancient history. In 2002, this enthusiast carried out major work by reorganising the vineyard and modernising the winemaking facilities, in order to excel in the production of wines that reveal the quality of their terroir.
The wine
The 2020 Commanderie rosé by Peyrassol stems from vines that are planted clay-limestone to schist soils, depending on the plot, in the Côtes de Provence appellation.
The vintage
The first months of the year were marked by regular rainfall until mid-July. From the beginning of August, high temperatures caused water stress and halted the growth of the vineyard. The cool nights combined with warm days favoured the grape’s final ripening stage up until the harvesting of bright and balanced grapes.
Vinification and ageing
The harvested grapes are delicately pneumatically pressed. The traditional vinification process in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats is followed by ageing in stainless steel vats on fine lees to preserve the aromatic freshness.
The blend
The 2020 Commanderie rosé by Peyrassol comprises a blend of Grenache (40%), Cinsault (35%), Syrah (15%) and Vermentino (10%).
The tasting
Colour
The colour is soft and resembles a rose petal.
Nose
The nose blends aromas of English candy, strawberry and raspberry with more acidic notes of redcurrant and citrus.
Palate
Complex, the palate is seduced with its aromas of red and exotic fruits.
Food and wine pairing
The 2020 Commanderie rosé wine by Peyrassol will complement salmon sushi, scallop ceviche or golden sea bass served with fennel.
