A great white Vin de France combining finesse and complexity
The estate
Founded in 2005 when the finest terroirs of Domaine Vico (established in 1901) were split off, Clos Venturi has become an essential reference in Corsica. Located in Ponte-Leccia, this 40-hectare agroecological farm is now run by Emmanuel Venturi, known as Manu. Under his leadership, the estate stands out for its commitment to biodynamic farming and its determination to preserve the island's indigenous grape varieties. The estate harmoniously integrates its vines into a living ecosystem, where animals and Mediterranean maquis coexist.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from a singular mountain terroir in the heart of the island, in Ponte-Leccia. The vines thrive at altitude, between 300 and 500 metres, benefiting from an exceptional climate at the crossroads of maritime and alpine influences. Farmed according to biodynamic principles, the vineyard lies on free-draining soils of granite, schist and sandstone, which lend the berries a vibrant minerality. Here, the vines grow in symbiosis with the rich vegetation of the surrounding maquis.
Vinification and ageing
True to the estate's natural philosophy, the Chiesa Nera 2023 cuvée is made with minimal intervention. Fermentations start spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Ageing is particularly meticulous, with a deliberate use of amphorae. This neutral vessel preserves all the aromatic purity and texture of the fruit, with no marked influence from new oak.
Grape variety
This white wine showcases Vermentinu, an emblematic indigenous grape variety of the island, which draws all its tension and minerality from the estate's granite and schist soils.
