Clos du Marquis 2022

Deep, clear and pure, cassis, cool fireplace, a hint of Christmas spices, with violet and tobacco on top; creamy, rounded attack on the palate, the finest tannins caressing the crunchy fruit, perfectly judged acidity, a mineral-driven finish with wild berries and a hint of mocha on the aftertaste. A great Clos du Marquis.

This sports a strapping feel, with blackberry and boysenberry compote notes that show solid, brambly energy, backed by licorice snap and roasted apple wood, while a streak of warm earth runs underneath. Shows the warmth of the vintage, but with good latent energy. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2040.

The 2022 Clos du Marquis is gorgeous. Resonant and quite expressive, it possesses notable textural depth and plenty of presence but never feels heavy. Inky dark-toned fruit, spice, new leather and licorice all flow across the palate. The 2022 will be an absolute delight to drink over the next 10-15 years.

Flowers, blackberries, black cherries, and crème de cassis accented by Cuban cigars hit the spot. The wine is long, supple, creamy, and elegant. There is freshness, length, and purity with a regal touch to the finish that makes you take a step back, think about it, and enjoy another sip. Already effortless to drink, the next two or more decades are going to be even better! The wine blends 45.5% Merlot, 44.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2026-2045.

The 2022 Clos Du Marquis is rich, concentrated, and serious, with cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and chalky minerality developing with time in the glass. Full-bodied and incredibly pure on the palate, it has bright acidity, building tannins, and a great finish. This structured yet elegant Saint-Julien should evolve well for at least 2-3 decades if well stored.

As of this vintage, the vines that were in le Petit Marquis have been brought back into Clos du Marquis (and this is the last vintage before it moves into its own separate winery). It’s good quality, with a chalky texture to the tannins, controlled power, bitter dark chocolate, cocoa bean. 53% new oak for ageing.

A polished, shimmering nose revealing suave fruit, with a more austere note of graphite. On the palate, the wine is juicy and generous, driven by noble blue-black fruit, perfectly ripe, with velvety tannins, leading to a sapid finish.

Clos du Marquis immediately shows freshness, with menthol nuances complemented by black-berry aromas. Lively and mouthwatering from the attack, the wine convinces with its ability to bridge the suave and powerful sides. It has clearly emancipated itself from Las Cases and is forging its own path. Ideally supported by fine-grained tannins, the mid-palate delivers the essentials and leads into a juicy, persistent finish. A wine that combines charm, power and subtlety. Certainly one of the greatest Clos du Marquis!

Black color. An intense, refined nose, fruity, pure, noble. A palate with creamy body, classy in texture, with substance and a deep, flavorful, rich rise on the finish. Blend: 45.5% merlot, 44.5% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc. Alcohol: 14°25 - pH: 3.70. IPT: 84. Yield: 34 hl/ha.

This is a wine that sits on the edge of the vintage, both concentrated and fresh, juicy and taut. The palate is structured, mouthwatering, set on a good acidic backbone, held by firm yet integrated tannins. Energetic finish.

The smoky character of this wine shows in the aroma while supporting the layers of black fruits and core of solid tannins. The wine's acidity and blackberry fruits are textured with a juicy character. Drink from 2028.
