Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Sainte Marguerite Marguerites en Provence Rosé 2025

Tasting

Appearance
A crystalline hue with beautiful clarity, revealing a slight depth of color that reflects a well-controlled balance between delicacy and extraction.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals vibrant citrus aromas accompanied by subtle notes of exotic fruits. With aeration, the nose gradually opens up, unveiling a multi-layered complexity where lemon, grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and delicate white floral notes intertwine.

Palate
On the palate, this Sainte Marguerite en Provence rosé displays a freshness marked by pronounced fruity notes of exotic fruits, notably passion fruit and pineapple, complemented by pear and pink grapefruit zest. The fruit-driven aromatic structure is supported by a mineral freshness that stretches across the palate and remarkably prolongs the finish. The wine reveals notable complexity with successive layers of aromas that unfold progressively, offering a fine balance between fruit and floral notes, framed by a firm acidity and a strong mineral backbone.

Food and wine pairings

This Sainte Marguerite en Provence rosé pairs perfectly with citrus sea bream tartare, roasted langoustines, or lobster ravioli. More broadly, it harmonizes beautifully with fine fish, shellfish, aged cheeses, and fruit-based desserts.

Serving and cellaring

The Château Sainte Marguerite Marguerites en Provence Rosé 2025 can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve through at least 2027.

An exceptional Provence rosé combining complexity and minerality

The estate

Founded in 1929 by André Chevillon on the foundations of a vineyard cultivated since Antiquity, the Château Sainte-Marguerite extends across the terroir of La Londe-Les-Maures, a coastal village in the Var. In 1955, it was awarded the Cru Classé de Provence distinction, highlighting the authenticity, diversity, and quality of its wines. In 1977, Brigitte and Jean-Pierre Fayard acquired the estate, which at the time covered 11 hectares. Since 2022, the Fayard family has partnered with Pernod Ricard to further develop Sainte Marguerite en Provence both in France and internationally.

The vineyard

This rosé comes specifically from the Saints Pons and Valcros parcels located within the Côtes de Provence appellation, in La Londe-les-Maures. The vines thrive on flint soils that give the wine its characteristic mineral tension and vibrancy. The immediate proximity to the Mediterranean provides a strong maritime climate influence, with hot, dry summers, mild winters, and exceptional sunshine. The mistral regularly cleanses the vines, reducing disease risk and supporting rigorous organic viticulture.

The vintage

The 2025 vintage in Provence is defined by a particular climatic pattern, marked by a spring punctuated with rainfall followed by a radiant summer that led to accelerated grape ripening. This growing season imposed a fast and demanding pace on the estate teams, with a shortened harvest window. Harvesting was carried out at night, benefiting from cooler temperatures to preserve the brightness, tension, freshness, and aromatic vibrancy of the grapes.

Winemaking and aging

Cold skin maceration before pressing preserves the grapes’ aromatic delicacy. Temperature-controlled vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing precise management of fermentation temperatures. The wine is then aged on fine lees in tanks, enhancing its aromatic profile and giving it a rounder texture. Before bottling, fining and final filtration ensure the wine’s stability and brilliance.

Grape varieties

Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle/Vermentino.
