Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château Laffitte Carcasset 2025
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is deep and spicy. It reveals lovely notes of small fruits and juniper berries, subtly complemented by hints of graphite, cedar, cigar and espresso.
Palate
The tasting offers a creamy texture supported by fine, elegant tannins. The medium-bodied frame is juicy and fleshy, with a beautiful expression of ripe fruits and red cherries. The whole is perfectly balanced, finishing on a both mineral and saline note.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs ideally with characterful red meats. It will wonderfully accompany a fine cut of beef or a roasted venison fillet, whose delicate flesh will be enhanced by the elegance and freshness of the cuvée.
Serving and ageing
Château Laffitte Carcasset 2025 boasts a very interesting ageing potential, allowing it to be kept for many years in the cellar to fully appreciate its complexity.
An Exceptional Cru Bourgeois in the Heart of Saint-Estèphe
The estate
Founded in 1759, Château Laffitte Carcasset is a key estate of Saint-Estèphe, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Since 2016, the estate has belonged to the Rousseau family, who passionately perpetuate its excellence.
The vineyard
The 35-hectare terroir extends over the Garonne gravel plateau of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, resting on a clay-limestone subsoil. The vines, averaging around thirty years of age, benefit from the immediate proximity of the Gironde estuary, which acts as an excellent thermal regulator. The entire estate is HVE 3 certified, reflecting an environmentally respectful approach.
The vintage
The year was marked by an early growing cycle, beginning with a mild and dry spring. Summer proved particularly hot and arid, punctuated by significant temperature variations between day and night. These ideal weather conditions favoured a uniform budburst and veraison, followed by harvests under excellent conditions between September 8 and 18.
Vinification and ageing
After manual and mechanical harvesting, the berries undergo a rigorous intra-plot selection. Fermentation takes place in a brand-new gravity-flow cellar, using stainless steel and concrete vats for gentle, slow extractions. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are new. Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Grape varieties
The blend of this wine consists of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot.
