The Purity and Freshness of a Great Pomerol Wine

With the estate’s production limited to 2,500 bottles per year, the new 2017 vintage of Château La Connivence promises to be a great one indeed from the legendary Pomerol appellation, located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.

Born from the friendship between 3 passionate wine lovers, Château La Connivence is a property of 1.45 hectares, including 90 ares of vines! Small in size but with an exceptional terroir, Château La Connivence oversees a vineyard made up of a mosaic of soils, lending richness and complexity to the wines of the estate. The clay soils make possible the production of powerful wines, revealing intense blackcurrant and truffle aromas, while the fine-grained soils bring depth, fruit and sweet vanilla. The coarse gravel soils, furthermore, result in an elegance in the wines, which exude notes of oak and liquorice.

The soils are plowed in the traditional way, with horses and the use of phytosanitary products is very limited here. The team carries out micro-parcel vinification in the state-of-the-art vat room. Château La Connivence enjoys all of the equipment necessary to make the small property a great name of Pomerol.

With the winemaking carried out under the watchful eye of Claude Gros who joined the team as an oenologist in 2010, and famous consultant oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, the Château La Connivence 2017 presents all the assets of the greatest Pomerol Crus.

The terroirs that survived the spring frost allowed for a normal development of the grapes and optimal ripeness in time for harvest. Already displaying a very nice balance and remarkable freshness, the Château La Connivence 2017 reveals the typical nature of the grape varieties used in the blend: Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). A wine with a very nice profile that foreshadows a beautiful evolution in the bottle.
