The Refinement and Balance of a Great Margaux

Situated on the top of the beautiful Cantenac plateau, Château Kirwan is one of the most celebrated references of the prestigious Margaux appellation, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux.

Under the leadership of talented Managing Director Philippe Delfaut, this superb estate with an Irish name has in recent years undergone a great modernisation and restructuring project. 2018 marks the turning of a new page in the history of Château Kirwan, with a vineyard that is now 100% organic and certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value Level 3). The investments, effort and close attention paid by the Château Kirwan team, from the vineyard to the winery, are justly rewarded by the excellence of their wines, which have become some of the best in the Margaux appellation.

The Château Kirwan 2017 confirms the position of the property among the greatest of the appellation. With its freshness, elegance and balance, the Château Kirwan 2017 displays a style faithful to the signature of the estate. The beautifully crafted bouquet is typical of a 2017 vintage Margaux, exuding pure aromas of black berries, evolving upon aeration fragrances freshly cut tobacco leaves. On the palate, the wine displays the typical mouthfeel of a Margaux wine, a velvety texture enhanced by a brilliant acidity that stretches into an elegant and fresh finish. A real gold standard in Margaux.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Kirwan has a nose of baked black fruits, herbs and earth with balsamic, smoked meats and spice box. Medium-bodied, it has just enough fruit and is a little firm, chewy and cedary with a woody finish.
