Description
A Mercurey wine combining delicacy and aromatic expression
The estate
Château de Chamirey, which began estate bottling in 1934, extends over approximately 37 hectares in the heart of the Mercurey appellation, in Burgundy. Now run by Amaury and Aurore Devillard, the fifth generation of the family at the helm of the property, the estate is distinguished by its ownership of premier cru monopoles, including La Mission in white. This family continuity and the richness of its parcels make Château de Chamirey a benchmark of the Côte Chalonnaise.
The vineyard
The Chardonnay vines used for this cuvée thrive on the slopes of Mercurey, where the clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation predominate. The estate cultivates its parcels according to the principles of lutte raisonnée (sustainable viticulture), with a high planting density of around 10,000 vines per hectare, which promotes the natural concentration of the grapes. The average age of the vines, close to 35 years, contributes to the balance and depth sought in the château's white wines.
Vinification and ageing
The production of the Mercurey Village 2025 relies on hand harvesting, followed by careful sorting of the grapes so that only berries that have reached optimal ripeness are retained. This rigour, upheld by the estate team at every stage from vine to cellar, aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and remain faithful to the expression of the Mercurey terroir.
Grape variety
This Mercurey Village 2025 from Château de Chamirey is made from Chardonnay.
