A Grand Cru from the Côte de Nuits with a bold character
The estate
Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper, Champy remains the oldest négociant house in Burgundy. Based in the heart of Beaune, it farms 21 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Acquired by the AdVini group in 2016, the house stands out for its 15th-century cellars listed as historic monuments and its historic connection with Louis Pasteur. Champy combines tradition and modernity, with 50% of its vines certified organic and 50% HVE.
The vineyard
The Clos Vougeot spans nearly 50 hectares in the Côte de Nuits, between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. Founded around 1110 by Cîteaux Abbey, this legendary vineyard benefits from an altitude between 240 and 255 meters. The Pinot Noir vines thrive on this outstanding terroir, which has shaped the reputation of Burgundy’s great wines for centuries.
Vinification and aging
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2013 is vinified according to traditional Burgundian methods, with aging in oak barrels allowing the wine to develop its tannic structure and aromatic complexity while preserving the authentic expression of the terroir.
