The estate

Founded in 1731 in Beaune, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy. For nearly three centuries, 9 generations have taken over, one after the other, with the same ambition: to create an exceptional estate in Burgundy.

Gradually built up over the years, the vineyards of the Bouchard Père et Fils estate now cover 130 hectares of vines. Combining prestigious appellations with exceptional plots, the Bouchard Père & Fils vineyard constitutes a unique wine heritage in Burgundy.

The vineyard

Exclusive to the estate, the "du Château" cuvée has been produced every year since 1907. This Beaune Premier Cru wine is made from 5 plots selected for their complementing qualities: Aigrots, Sizies, Sur les Grèves, Teurons and Tuvilains.

Winemaking and ageing

Harvested by hand, the grapes are meticulously sorted before vinification. Before being blended, the grapes from each climate are vinified separately, in order to preserve the typicity of the different terroirs. The pressing is carried out in two stages, with first of all an evacuation of the first juices and then a cyclic pressing of 2 hours depending on the vintage. Aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (up to 15% new barrels depending on the vintage) in the Bastions cellars of the old Château de Beaune.
