Description
A Full-Bodied Napa Valley Cabernet with Great Potential for Age
Brainchild of legendary California vintner Bill Harlan, BOND Estates was first born through the inaugural vintage of 1997, produced at the famous Harlan Estate winery. A new winery, dedicated to BOND Estates wines finished construction just in time for the 2000 harvest. Today, the BOND portfolio includes five unique single-vineyard, single-variety Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Napa Valley, each one expressing a unique personality. The Vecina 2014 by BOND is made with exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon from the 11-acre Vecina vineyard, whose name ("neighbour" in Spanish) refers to the proximity of the Vecina vineyard to the winery. The vines of Vecina grow at altitudes between 221-330 feet above sea level. The terraced slopes are characterised by volcanic soils. The thermal amplitude experienced by the vines results in extremely layered wines with concentrated flavours and aromas, and enough acidity and tannin to survive close to 50 years of ageing. The BOND Vecina 2014 is an intense, powerful and savoury Napa Valley Cabernet, revealing brooding notes of cassis and baked blueberries, along with hints of anise and forest floor on the nose. This wine is wonderfully alive, presenting a full-bodied and spicy character on the palate, as well as ripe and smooth tannins. The finish is beautifully complex, layered and long. A Napa Cab with promise of great things to come.
