For nearly two centuries, the House of Bollinger has embodied Champagne excellence. Founded in 1829 in Aÿ, at the heart of Champagne, this family-owned Maison is among the few great estates that have preserved their independence to this day.
Pinot Noir, the House’s emblematic grape variety
Blanc de Noirs, an ode to Pinot Noir
A Blanc de Noirs is a Champagne made exclusively from black-skinned grape varieties, primarily Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier. Although the grapes are dark, the wine retains a pale color thanks to vinification without skin maceration. Blanc de Noirs captivates with fruity aromas, richness, and breadth on the palate. It delights enthusiasts seeking powerful, expressive Champagnes.
Pinot Noir, the identity of the House of Bollinger
Present in the majority of the vineyard and central to the crafting of Bollinger Champagnes—particularly the Blanc de Noirs cuvées—Pinot Noir has shaped the House’s identity for nearly two centuries. A demanding grape, it yields wines that require long maturation to reveal their full aromatic complexity and balance. It is also found in the blend of Bollinger Rosé cuvées.
Bollinger Blanc de Noirs: cuvées that elevate Pinot Noir
Vieilles Vignes Françaises, an exceptional cuvée
A symbol of Bollinger excellence, the Brut Champagne Vieilles Vignes Françaises comes from two historic plots in Aÿ (Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres), spared by phylloxera and farmed entirely by hand. This Champagne seduces with the richness and complexity of its nose, and a generous palate carried into a saline finish.
PN, an exploration of the unique terroirs of the Montagne de Reims
Launched in 2020, the Extra Brut cuvée “Bollinger PN” invites discovery of an original expression of Pinot Noir. Each annual edition of this Blanc de Noirs highlights a specific cru of the Montagne de Reims and a base year. Sourced from vineyards in Verzenay, Avenay, and Tauxières, the PN cuvée (VZ for Verzenay, TX for Tauxières, depending on the dominant component of the blend) charms with finesse, salinity, and complexity.
La Côte aux Enfants, a remarkable cuvée
Bollinger’s “La Côte aux Enfants” cuvée is an exceptional Blanc de Noirs from a unique 4-hectare parcel on Aÿ’s famed hillside. Burgundy-style vinification followed by aging in small oak barrels lends the wine power, concentration, and elegance. The nose reveals intense red and black fruit aromas, enhanced by spicy notes, leather, and violet, while the palate shows silky tannins, fine harmony, and remarkable length.
Produced in very limited quantities and only in exceptional vintages, La Côte aux Enfants offers great aging potential.
