The freshness and precision of a Chablis Grand Cru
The Estate
Founded in Monthélie in 1831 by Bernard Bichot, the Albert Bichot House embodies nearly two centuries of expertise in Burgundy. Today under the management of Albéric Bichot, it includes six estates covering the entire region, with over 100 hectares of vineyards, including 13 hectares of Grands Crus and 26 Premiers Crus. Based in Beaune, the House distinguishes itself by its pioneering role in the conversion to organic farming in the vineyards of the Côte d'Or and offers the most extensive portfolio of organic wines among the Houses in Beaune.
The Vineyard
Located at the western end of the Chablis Grands Crus, the "Bougros" climat rests on a remarkable terroir of deep clay-limestone soils on a subsoil of Kimmeridgian marl. This 0.50-hectare plot is characterized by a higher clay content than the other Grands Crus, guaranteeing excellent water reserves. The vines, with an average age of about 60 years, are planted at a density of 8,000 vines per hectare, favoring competition between the roots and deep rooting. The south-west exposure ensures strong sunlight in the afternoon.
Winemaking and Ageing
Harvesting is done manually with strict sorting. Slow and gentle pressing at moderate pressure precedes alcoholic fermentation. The Chablis Grand Cru "Bougros" Domaine Long-Depaquit 2020 is then aged for 10 months on fine lees in oak barrels (3 to 5 wines) and then refined for another 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
Grape Variety
This Burgundy Grand Cru comprises 100% Chardonnay.
