Dominating the St Emilion village, Troplong Mondot and its 33 hectares is one of the " big " estates of the region. Endowed with a fabulous terroir, the quality of the wines has steadily improved since the arrival of Christine Valette-Pariente in 1980. Her husband joined her a few years later and started the restructuration of the facilities and the vineyard in a respectful approach of the environment. Their efforts led the estate to the rank of 1er Grand Cru Classé of St Emilion in 2006. The wines, profound, concentrated, are a perfect union between the elegance and the power of the terroir.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Full-bodied and atypically rich and concentrated for a 2013, it boasts beautiful blueberry and creme de cassis fruit as well as underlying chalky minerality, and good richness and concentration. It is a noteworthy homage to Christine Valletes brilliant efforts at Troplong Mondot, which resulted in the elevation of this estate in the 2012 St.-Emilion classification. It can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years.
