Tasting
Appearance
Hue of deep black-purple with an intense core and a narrow purple rim, reflecting the exceptional concentration of this vintage.
Nose
Powerful aromas of wild berries, blackcurrant, black plum and cherries. Notes of cistus, mint and rose petals intertwine, creating a complex and captivating bouquet.
Palate
Remarkable freshness and purity of fruit, with a certain agility. Flavors of greengages, plums and black cherries, enhanced by touches of lavender and herbs. A very long red-fruit finish with laser-like precision.
Pairings and Tasting Occasions
Pairs perfectly with nuts, blue-veined and strongly flavored cheeses, as well as dried fruits such as apricots and figs. Also excellent when enjoyed on its own. Serve at 16–18 °C after decanting, leaving the bottle upright for a few hours to allow the sediment to settle.
A rich and fruity Porto Vintage from the Douro Valley
Taylor's, three centuries of port excellence
Taylor's, founded in 1692 in the Douro region, remains one of the most prestigious port houses. Based in Vila Nova de Gaia, it owns historic vineyards in the Douro Valley, cultivating touriga nacional, touriga francesa and tinta roriz. Owned by the Fladgate Partnership, Taylor's maintains ancestral methods with foot treading in granite lagares and aging in oak barrels. Specialized exclusively in Port for three centuries, it produces exceptional Vintages in outstanding years, embodying Portuguese excellence.
The Sentinels Vintage Port 2022, guardian of traditions
The Sentinels Vintage Port 2022 takes its name from the 335 marcos de feitoria, those granite pillars erected in 1758 to delineate the premium production zones. Sourced from Taylor's four historic quintas (Terra Feita, Junco, Casa Nova, Eira Velha), all located in the Pinhão Valley and classified as feitoria during the original 1756 demarcation, this Porto embodies the rich and powerfully fruity style characteristic of this emblematic valley.
The blend brings together seven traditional grape varieties: touriga francesa, touriga nacional, tinta roriz, tinta barroca, tinto cão, tinta amarela and tinta da barca. The 2022 vintage, marked by a dry winter followed by summer heatwaves reaching 46.5 °C, produced very small berries offering an excellent juice-to-skin ratio, thus concentrating aromas and flavors.
