Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Genesis XO Longueteau
Tasting
Color
A deep, natural amber-gold color with crystal-clear transparency. In the glass, the spirit displays considerable viscosity, forming slow tears that glide gently down the sides, testifying to its richness.
Nose
Exceptionally gourmand and without the slightest alcoholic harshness, it first reveals notes of white nuts, soft nougat and buttery caramel drizzled with cane juice. Aeration brings out noble vanilla and fresh almond, followed by aromas of precious wood, mastic, tonka bean and sweet spices born of its long exchange with the oak.
Palate
The attack is an immediate delight, evoking a soft candied cane sweet. The alcoholic strength is delicately wrapped in flavors of honey, sweet almond and brioche-like notes full of umami. The texture is remarkably silky and velvety, without excessive tannins, offering a perfect balance between the sweetness of the cane and its woody complexity. The finish, of exceptional elegance and length, evolves toward dried fruits, cigar box, coconut and aged cane.
Food and Wine Pairing
This meditation spirit is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a tulip glass. It is recommended to savor it in very small quantities to capture all its nuances. On the food side, it pairs magnificently with aged cheeses (salers, cantal, Pouligny-Saint-Pierre-style goat cheese), dark chocolate desserts (70 to 85% cocoa) or candied dried fruits. It is the ideal companion for moments of solitary contemplation or memorable celebrations.
Mixology
Being an exceptional and extremely rare product, it is strongly recommended to enjoy it neat, without any additions or dilution, in order to preserve the integrity of its aromatic complexity.
Other Characteristics
Bottled at its natural strength of 70.9% (cask strength), this rum undergoes no reduction with water, no artificial coloring and no cold filtration.
The Excellence of Guadeloupean Agricultural Rum by Longueteau Estate
The Longueteau Distillery: A Family Heritage at the Heart of Guadeloupe
Founded in 1895 by Henri Louis Philippe Longueteau, the distillery belongs to the oldest family of farmer-distillers in the region still in operation today. Established in Capesterre-Belle-Eau, on the volcanic soils of the Soufrière massif, the estate grows its own sugar cane across 120 hectares, ensuring total autonomy and traceability. Today, the fourth generation leads the estate: François Longueteau oversees the agricultural operations, while his sons, Nicolas (the official distiller) and his brother (creator of the cellar's collections), carry on this ancestral know-how. Proud of its independence, the family crafts a Rhum de Guadeloupe of rare authenticity, favoring sustainable farming and meticulous distillation in a Creole column. Longueteau thus embodies the perfect alliance between absolute respect for Caribbean terroir and bold technical innovation.
Genesis XO: The Ultimate Innovation in Aged Agricultural Rum
Genesis XO represents a true technical feat and a deliberate anomaly within the world of spirits. This exceptional Rhum is the very first to simultaneously combine the characteristics of single-plot, single-varietal (exclusively made from R579 red cane), still strength and cask strength.
The production of this aged agricultural Rhum begins with a natural forty-eight-hour fermentation of pure cane juice, followed by distillation in the estate's historic Creole column. The distillate first rests for twenty-four months in stainless steel tanks with regular stirring, before undergoing an extended maturation of six full years. This aging takes place in the "Henri" cellar, in new French oak barrels with fine grain and light toast, meticulously selected to extract elegant aromas without masking the cane's original identity.
Bottled at its dizzying natural strength of 70.9%, without any water reduction or chemical intervention, the Genesis XO is a strictly limited edition of 2,000 numbered bottles. This rarity, combined with its extraordinary aromatic profile, makes it an absolute reference for connoisseurs, redefining the standards of rum innovation while celebrating more than a century of tradition.
