Characteristics and tasting tips for Hine Cognac XO 1er Cru
Tasting
Nose
The nose reveals refined spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove), candied citrus and white flowers (lavender, jasmine). Notes of fruit paste, grape, date are joined by touches of grilled nectarines, ripe apricots and melon.
Palate
The palate offers a velvety, supple texture, revealing nuances of ripe fruit and sweet spices. Notes of roasted nut, fig, baked apple, vanilla, tobacco, and a subtle cocoa touch come through. The finish is persistent and sophisticated, with delicate spice accents, candied orange zest, and a lingering echo of dried fruit and fine oak.
Food pairings and serving moments
Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass to fully reveal its aromatic range. Pairs beautifully with intense dark chocolate, walnut tart, honey-glazed foie gras, a skewer of dried fruits, or an unflavored cigar.
A 100% Grande Champagne XO Cognac, fresh and refined
Maison Hine, an emblem of Grande Champagne since 1763
Founded in 1763 in Jarnac by Thomas Hine, the Hine House embodies a singular vision of cognac. The only Cognac House to hold a Royal Warrant, a British distinction renewed by King Charles III, Hine cultivates a strong historical bond with England and perpetuates the “Early Landed” tradition. Independent again since 2013, the House sources from Grande and Petite Champagne and practices double distillation on fine lees to preserve freshness and complexity. Since 2023, Cellar Master Paul Szersnovicz has succeeded Eric Forget. Its emblem, the stag turned toward England, recalls its Anglo-French roots.
Hine XO 1er Cru: the excellence of Grande Champagne
Hine XO 1er Cru comes exclusively from Grande Champagne, Premier Cru of Cognac. This complex blend brings together more than 40 eaux-de-vie aged a minimum of 10 years in fine-grained, lightly toasted French oak barrels, with an average age of around 35 years. Double distillation on fine lees gives this cognac its signature freshness and aromatic complexity.
