Characteristics and tasting advice for the Hendrick's Original & Jigger NM Hendrick's Gift Set
Tasting
Nose
Remarkably light, the aromatic profile opens with floral notes dominated by the delicate musk of rose petals, softening the classic resinous backbone of juniper. Subtle hints of sweet orange, lime zest, and elderflower intertwine, while an ეთereal top note of cucumber evokes the freshness of a lush garden.
Palate
The initial structure reveals the classic character of gin with an herbal base driven by angelica, coriander, juniper, and orris root. The mid-palate surprises with a lively freshness brought by citrus notes (orange and lime) that are almost sweet. The long finish evolves with spicy touches of cubeb pepper and yarrow, leaving a persistent trail of infused rose petals, Persian cucumber, and a subtle bitterness reminiscent of Earl Grey tea.
Food pairings and tasting occasions
While its great aromatic stability allows it to be enjoyed neat at room temperature, this spirit reveals its full potential alongside delicate dishes. It pairs beautifully with seafood-based dishes, fresh vegetable salads, or any preparation that highlights light flavors and floral elements.
Mixology
This gin stands out for its exceptional versatility. It is the star ingredient of the iconic Gin & Tonic, ideally prepared with 50 ml of gin, 150 ml of premium tonic water, served over ice and garnished with a slice of fresh cucumber. It also excels in classics such as the Cucumber Martini, Negroni, and Gimlet, as well as in contemporary creations like the Cucumber Basil Smash. The jigger included in the set allows each ingredient to be measured with precision.
An iconic Scottish gin infused with rose and cucumber
William Grant & Sons: The boldness of a family distillery
Founded in 1887 by William Grant, William Grant & Sons is now run by the Grant family descendants and remains one of the few truly independent Scottish distilleries. Historically renowned for its whiskies, the estate took a bold turn in the late 1990s. In 1999, chemist and master distiller Lesley Gracie created Hendrick's, a truly revolutionary Scottish gin. Produced in the Ayrshire region, within the spectacular "Gin Palace" inaugurated in 2018, this spirit embodies a philosophy that blends eccentricity with experimentation. The brand stands out for its unwavering commitment to small-batch artisanal production, prioritizing absolute quality and aromatic complexity over mass production.
The refined eccentricity of the Hendrick's Original & Jigger Gift Set
The Hendrick's Original & Jigger Gift Set is an invitation to craft cocktails with absolute precision. This elegant set combines the iconic аптothecary-style amber glass bottle with an essential double-sided jigger for mixology.
The production of this Scottish gin is based on a dual still distillation process, described by the brand as "absurdly inefficient, yet entirely glorious." The master distiller uses two historic stills: an 1860 Bennett pot still, which macerates the botanicals to produce a rich distillate, and a 1948 Carter-Head still, which extracts aromas through a gentle vapor infusion.
The recipe is built on a symphony of eleven carefully selected botanicals, including juniper, coriander, orange and lemon peel, chamomile, elderflower, angelica root, yarrow, orris root, caraway seeds, and cubeb pepper. The two distillates obtained are then meticulously blended. The unique aromatic signature of this spirit is finally achieved through a cold infusion, carried out after distillation, of essences of Bulgarian rose petals and fresh cucumber. To ensure impeccable quality, production is deliberately limited to batches of just 500 liters.
