Description
The freshness and aromatic radiance of a fine Californian wine
The estate
Saxum Vineyards has become an essential reference for fine Californian wines over the years. Located in the Willow Creek district of Paso Robles, Saxum Vineyards reigns over an exceptional vineyard producing structured wines that elegantly reflect the nuances of the rocky, limestone terroir.
A sustainable vineyard management along with a minimalist approach to winemaking leads to the production of wines that magnify both the potential of its fine vineyards and the unique characteristics of each vintage.
The vineyard
James Berry Vineyard is a Paso Robles wine stemming from a sloping vineyard located around 15 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. The terroir is composed of a shallow clay loam surface layer upon an ancient seabed with fossilised shells.
Vinification and ageing
This wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in different containers. The Grenache grapes are aged in concrete tanks, the Mataro and Syrah grapes in small French oak barrels, the majority of which are new. No racking on the lees. Bottled without fining or filtration.
The blend
Grenache (58%)
Mataro (27%)
Syrah (6%)
Graciano (6%)
Counoise (3%).
