Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Roc d'Anglade "Anglada" 2023
Tasting notes
Nose
The nose reveals delicate notes of aromatic herbs reminiscent of the surrounding garrigue, underpinned by a lovely minerality.
Palate
On the palate, the wine stands out for its freshness and tension. The mineral, saline expression, inherited from its limestone terroir, lingers at length to deliver a finish of great finesse.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted Mediterranean vegetables, such as aubergines, courgettes or peppers. It also goes wonderfully well with soft cheeses, particularly goat's cheese or herb-flavoured varieties.
Service and storage
This wine can be enjoyed young but will continue to evolve favourably in bottle, drinking well until around 2038. The "Anglada" 2023 vintage thus reveals excellent ageing potential.
The freshness and mineral expression of a white wine from the Languedoc
The estate
Founded in 1999 by Rémy Pédreno and his wife Martine, the current owners, the Roc d'Anglade estate is located in the historic village of Langlade, in France. This Languedoc property spans a vineyard of 9.5 hectares. Guided by a philosophy of respect for living organisms and biodiversity, the estate produces wines of great elegance, far removed from the region's standards of overripeness. Now supported by Jeremy Stevenson, the estate is recognised by the finest Michelin-starred restaurants for its authentic cuvées and artisanal approach.
The vineyard
Located in France, the vineyard falls within the IGP Pays du Gard. The vines dedicated to this cuvée, planted in 2015, benefit from a high-altitude location and a north-west exposure. This distinctive terroir rests on a limestone base surrounded by the typical vegetation of the garrigue. Farmed according to the principles of organic agriculture, with certification obtained in 2011, the estate favours manual harvesting and meticulous observation of the plants to preserve the natural freshness of the grapes.
The vintage
2023 brought favourable weather conditions to the region. The growing cycle allowed the berries to reach a balanced ripeness, favouring freshness and aromatic expression over excessive concentration.
Winemaking and ageing
The winemaking for the "Anglada" 2023 cuvée follows a low-intervention approach. Fermentation begins naturally through indigenous yeasts, without any artificial temperature control. The process includes whole-bunch fermentation and minimal manual extraction, followed by extended maceration and ageing in large vessels to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
