The estate
The Quinta do Vesuvio stands out as one of the most beautiful estates in the Douro Valley thanks to its freshness and altitude. Historical archives trace the existence of the estate back to 1565. In the 19th century, Quinta do Vesuvio passed into the hands of Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira and it is thanks to her that the house acquired the reputation as the "jewel of the Douro". In 1989, the Symington family purchased the property, thus extending their ancestral involvement in the cultivation, production and sale of Port, the famous wine of Portugal, to new lands.

The vineyard
Vintage Port 2018 comes from an exceptional terroir where the meeting between remarkable soil and a microclimate offers ideal conditions for the production of great Portuguese wines. On the south side of the Douro, the Quinta's 138 hectares of vines cover soil influenced by schist located at an altitude ranging from 130 meters to 350 meters. The climate is dry and characterized by its extreme peaks of coolness and heat. The vines, aged 30 to 40 years, peacefully ripen typical grape varieties of the Douro Valley with a predominance of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz.

The vintage
The year 2018 stands out in Duriense for its atypical weather. The winter is dry followed by a rainy spring. Heat waves mark the vineyards until the grape reaches perfect maturity. The wines of the 2018 vintage are characterized by their excellent concentration, their great balance, elegant tannins and beautiful acidity.
