The property
Since 1842, the Niepoort house embodies the viticultural excellence of the Douro. Located in the heart of this mythical valley, the Niepoort family has been producing wines of character for five generations. Driven by a deep respect for the terroir and traditional methods, the property has established itself as a key figure in the Portuguese vineyard, internationally recognized for the finesse and complexity of its ports and still wines.
The vineyard
In the Minho region, the vines selected by Niepoort benefit from a temperate continental climate, protected from oceanic influences by a mountainous barrier. The predominantly schistous soils ensure good water regulation and promote balanced maturity of the grapes.
The wine
Produced from vines located in the Lima valley, "Docil" is a vinho verde wine vinified to reveal all the finesse of the loureiro grape variety. The granitic soils give the wine a lively minerality and a great tension.
