Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the "La Grenadière" 2024 Cuvée from Mas Bruguiere
Tasting
Colour
This red wine reveals a deep colour with intense garnet hues, often accented by purple highlights.
Nose
Remarkably fresh, the aromatic bouquet is generous and complex. It releases scents of ripe black and red fruits, intertwined with notes of violet, liquorice and spice, all underscored by a typical hint of garrigue.
Palate
Full-bodied and structured, the palate offers a remarkable balance between power and freshness. The body is supported by firm yet perfectly integrated tannins, leading to a persistent finish with subtle spicy and minty notes.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée of character beautifully complements red meats and game, such as a venison stew or a leg of lamb. It also pairs wonderfully with dishes seasoned with herbes de Provence, petits farcis or a platter of mature cheeses.
Serving and Ageing
To fully appreciate the complexity of the 2024 vintage, we recommend decanting the wine about an hour before tasting and serving it at a temperature between 15 and 18°C.
The Elegance and Depth of a Great Red Wine from Pic Saint-Loup
The Estate
Founded in the early 19th century, Mas Bruguiere is a historic estate in the Languedoc. While the family's roots in the region date back to the 13th century, the modern estate truly took off in 1986. Today, Xavier and Marjorie Bruguière run this vineyard of around 20 hectares. Deeply committed to certified organic viticulture, the estate is renowned for its distinctive cuvées, which express the singularity of their terroir with precision, freshness and elegance.
The Vineyard
Nestled in the spectacular valley that separates Pic Saint-Loup from the Hortus massif, the vineyard benefits from a cool microclimate with pronounced temperature variations between day and night. Farmed organically, the old vines thrive on a mosaic of terroirs: north-facing clay-silt soils that preserve freshness, and deep south-facing scree slopes that promote optimal ripeness of the berries.
Vinification and Ageing
After meticulous hand harvesting, the grapes are transferred to vat by gravity. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with rigorous temperature control for gentle extraction. The wine is then aged for around 18 months in large wooden vessels, refining its structure while preserving the brightness of the fruit.
Grape Varieties
This wine is traditionally produced from a blend dominated by Syrah, complemented by Grenache and, depending on the vintage, occasionally a touch of Mourvèdre.
