Description
The structure and richness of an Aloxe-Corton Village wine by Louis Latour
The estate
The Domaine Louis Latour, a flagship of Burgundian viticulture, has upheld a tradition for over two centuries. Its 50 hectares span the prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and de Nuits, producing wines from 130 appellations, each reflecting its origin with authenticity.
The vineyard
An exceptional terroir nestled at the foot of the Montagne de Corton, the village of Aloxe-Corton offers a stony slope where 30-year-old vines draw their richness from composite soils of clay, sand, and alluvial pebbles. This unique terroir yields a wine renowned for its elegance and aromatic complexity.
The vintage
The 2023 growing season began with a mild winter and a sunny spring, allowing rapid vine development despite some concerns over humidity and mildew. The summer was contrasting, with above-average temperatures and significant rainfall, requiring constant vigilance. A heatwave in late August and early September ultimately saved the harvest, enabling perfect grape ripening.
Vinification and aging
Hand harvesting precedes open-tank fermentation. The wine is aged for 10–12 months in French oak barrels, 15% of which are new barrels from the estate's cooperage.
Grape variety
This Aloxe-Corton Village "Domaine Latour" 2023 from Louis Latour is 100% pinot noir.
