Decanter

Austerity takes the lead on the attack; you really have to give it five minutes to soften and allow the black cherry and raspberry fruit to come through.

Jeff Leve

With a floral edge to the red berries, the wine is medium-bodied, edgy, juicy and bright with a focus on all the sweet, crisp, ripe cassis. Enjoy this while waiting for its big brother to develop. 87-89 Pts

Falstaff

Falstaff

Strong ruby, light ochre reflections, broader brightening on the rim. Delicately savoury plum fruit, notes of cassis and sweet cherry, candied orange zest and noble wood in the background. Complex, juicy palate with fine ripeness, pickled cherry and ripe tannins. Long with some nougat on the finish. Definite ageing potential.

André Kunz

(61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 44 hl/ha) Floral, silky, fresh cherries, red cassis, cedar, delicate green notes. A firm, medium-bodied palate with good fruit, fine-grained tannins, a slender structure, good aromatics, and a long, slightly austere finish. Has room to improve. 16/20 2023 - 2036

The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Lacoste-Borie charges out with bombastic notes of stewed black plums, boysenberry preserves, and blackcurrant cordial with wafts of dried herbs and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, the palate is soft and refreshing, delivering impactful black fruit preserves flavors with a spicy lift on the finish.

Yves Beck

Good fruit intensity with notes of cherries and blackcurrant. On the palate, the wine is sleek, delicious, and well supported by its tannins. There is muscle, a touch of fleshiness, and a pleasant freshness. A wine with character.

Description

The elegance and structure of a second wine from Pauillac

The estate

Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste produces one of the most representative wines of the appellation. Lacoste-Borie is the second wine of the estate.

The vineyard

The Grand-Puy-Lacoste vineyard covers 90 hectares of vines on deep gravelly hills within the Pauillac appellation. 58 hectares are even planted in one piece. The vines that produce Lacoste-Borie are younger than those of the First Wine of Grand-Puy-Lacoste but are cultivated with the same care.

Blend

This Lacoste-Borie 2018 is the result of a blend of cabernet sauvignon (61%), merlot (31%), cabernet franc (8%).
