Characteristics and tasting tips for L'Aventure Estate Reserve 2023
Serving and cellaring
Built to last for decades, the Estate Reserve 2023 has exceptional ageing potential. This great wine can be cellared and enjoyed for around 20 years or more.
The masterful expression of the Paso Robles terroir in California
The estate
Founded in 1998 by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker who came in search of greater creative freedom in California, the L'Aventure estate lies on the Central Coast. Today, the property is still run by its current owners, Stephan and Béatrice Asseo, together with their daughter Chloé. Free from the strict rules of European appellations, the family has elevated its brand to the ranks of the region's essential references. The estate stands out for its bold blends and outstanding viticulture, combining Bordeaux expertise with the richness of American terroir.
The vineyard
The vines for this cuvée thrive on the west side of Paso Robles, in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains. This distinctive terroir enjoys a Mediterranean climate and fractured limestone soils that encourage deep rooting. Vineyard management draws on European traditions, with a very high planting density. To ensure maximum concentration in the grapes, yields are kept extremely low, between 1.5 and 2 tons per acre.
Winemaking and ageing
To preserve the full authenticity of the fruit, the Estate Reserve 2023 is made without any fining or filtration. This American wine is aged for 21 months in French oak barrels, 85% of which are new and 15% one year old.
Grape varieties
This blend is made up of 50% Syrah, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.
