Characteristics and tasting tips for L'Aventure Côte à Côte 2023
Serving and cellaring
Côte à Côte 2023 boasts remarkable aging potential. It can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2043.
L'Aventure crafts a great American wine, combining richness and elegance
The estate
Founded in 1998 in the heart of California, L'Aventure was born from the vision of Stephan Asseo, a Bordeaux winemaker in search of creative freedom. After exploring numerous regions, he settled with his family on the American West Coast to break free from the constraints of French appellations. Today, Stephan Asseo and his wife Béatrice remain the owners of this 127-acre estate. L'Aventure quickly established itself through its unique identity, blending European expertise with the exceptional terroirs of the New World to create bold, internationally acclaimed blends.
The vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from the estate's vineyard located in the Willow Creek District, on the western side of Paso Robles. This terroir stands out for its limestone soils derived from the Monterey formation and its rolling hills, which benefit from a wide thermal range thanks to maritime influences. Vine management relies on high planting density and rigorous practices aimed at drastically limiting yields, ensuring optimal berry concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The making of Côte à Côte 2023 is marked by a meticulous 18-month aging process. The wine rests in a precise combination of vessels: 40% new French oak barrels, 36% one-year-old French oak barrels, 15% concrete tanks and 9% amphorae. This vintage was then bottled in March 2025.
Grape varieties
This blend is composed of 42% Syrah, 36% Grenache and 22% Mourvèdre.
