Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for La Syrah Assemblage N°1 des Aurelles
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals seductive notes of ripe black fruit, accompanied by gentle spices and a subtle hint of liquorice.
Palate
The wine reveals a broad texture, both silky and generous. It is carried by a lovely freshness and vibrant energy, drawing its character from the basaltic terroirs from which it originates.
Food and Wine Pairing
This wine will pair wonderfully with a vegetable tagine with mild spices, grilled lamb chops served with a sweet garlic cream, pork tenderloin with thyme jus, or pan-seared duck breast enhanced with a black pepper sauce.
Serving and Cellaring
We recommend serving this wine at a temperature of 16°C. To appreciate all its nuances, open the bottle thirty minutes before tasting or do not hesitate to decant it. This wine is already ready to drink, while also offering fine ageing potential.
The Elegance of a Vin de France by Les Aurelles
The Estate
Founded in 1995 by Basile and Caroline Saint-Germain, Les Aurelles looks after a vineyard of approximately 8.5 hectares, driven by a deep and long-standing commitment to biodynamics. Since December 2023, Matthieu Gufflet has been the estate's current owner, taking up the torch to uphold this demand for quality. The estate is renowned for its elegant, profound wines, which perfectly reflect the richness of its terroir.
The Vineyard
The vines used for this Vin de France thrive on ancient sandy-gravelly terraces dating back to the Villafranchian, as well as on basaltic scree. The estate has farmed its land without any chemical products for more than thirty years, with the utmost respect for nature. Harvesting is done by hand, at optimal ripeness, generally requiring two to three passes to carefully select the bunches directly in the vineyard.
The Blend
This cuvée is the result of a blend of five different vintages, ranging from 2018 to 2023.
Vinification and Ageing
For this cuvée, the estate favours extended ageing in enamelled steel tanks. This method is specifically chosen to preserve the wine's balance, youthfulness and natural energy.
