Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chardonnay "Les Bernardines" 2022 from Domaine des Marnes Blanches
Tasting notes
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals itself with great subtlety, unveiling notes of ripe white fruit accompanied by touches of dried flowers. Delicate hints of fine spices intertwine with nuances evoking pastry and indulgence.
Palate
The palate offers a remarkable balance between textural generosity and lovely vibrancy. The preserved acidity supports a rich structure, leading into an elegant finish. This finish stands out for its great precision, notable density and a persistent mineral signature.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs perfectly with seafood such as oysters or scallops, as well as shellfish. It also beautifully accompanies delicate white fish, or vegetable-focused dishes such as white asparagus and mushrooms.
Service and storage
For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve the Chardonnay "Les Bernardines" 2022 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, after letting it breathe for a few minutes in a classic white wine glass. With fine aging potential, this wine can be enjoyed until at least 2030.
The pure expression of a Jura Chardonnay by Domaine des Marnes Blanches
The estate
Founded in 2006 by Pauline and Géraud Fromont, who remain its owners today, Domaine des Marnes Blanches stands out on the Jura winemaking landscape. Located in the Southern Revermont, the estate spans ten to twelve hectares. Drawing on their farming roots, the two winemakers have chosen an environmentally respectful approach, certified organic. The estate is distinguished by its commitment to producing terroir-driven wines, favoring minimal-intervention methods to reveal the full authenticity of the region.
The vineyard
The vines dedicated to this cuvée flourish on a predominantly limestone terroir, typical of the region. The vineyard is managed with the utmost respect for the soil, using natural cover crops and mechanical tilling to avoid chemical inputs. The harvest is carried out by hand to select only the finest berries. Although located in the Southern Revermont, this limestone terroir yields grapes that, once vinified, evoke the tradition of white wines from Arbois.
The vintage
The year 2022 fits within the region's characteristic continental climate, marked by well-defined seasons. The temperature variations between warm days and cool nights allowed for a gradual ripening of the berries, fostering a fine balance between concentrated aromas and preserved natural acidity.
Winemaking and aging
The estate's philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention in the cellar. Fermentation begins spontaneously through native yeasts. The aging of the Chardonnay "Les Bernardines" 2022 is particularly extensive, lasting thirty-four months in neutral oak demi-muids of around 600 liters. This method allows for complex aromatic development while limiting the influence of wood.
