Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Troquart 2022
Tasting
Appearance
This wine reveals a ruby red colour of beautiful intensity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of black and red fruits such as plum, blackcurrant and blackberry. The whole is subtly complemented by hints of cedar, along with earthy and herbaceous nuances.
Palate
At once powerful, structured and elegant, this wine offers a clean attack. The mid-palate reveals a lovely fruity roundness reminiscent of cherry, accompanied by chocolatey notes. The tannins are well integrated, delivering a finish of excellent length.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with grilled red meats or those prepared in sauce, as well as with game. It will also perfectly accompany pressed-curd cheeses, foie gras or even gastronomic specialities from the South-West of France.
Serving and ageing
Château Troquart 2022 reveals its full potential when served at a temperature between 16 and 19 °C. It is advisable to enjoy it without too much prior aeration. Boasting excellent ageing potential, it can be cellared for 5 to 15 years and will be ideal to drink until around 2037.
A powerful and elegant Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion wine crafted by Château Troquart
The estate
Founded in the 1950s, Château Troquart is a 5.5-hectare wine estate located in the renowned Bordeaux region. Acquired in 1999 by Jean-Guy Grégoire, the property is today run by his son Etienne and his wife Marie Grégoire. Deeply involved at every stage of production, they have brought a modern dynamic while respecting tradition. This family estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable farming, producing wines of character that reflect the full authenticity of their terroir.
The vineyard
The vines thrive on south and south-west-facing slopes, benefiting from optimal sunshine. The terroir of the Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion appellation is characterised by particularly high-quality clay-limestone soils. The estate practises conventional sustainable farming on vines averaging 40 years of age. For the 2022 vintage, yields reached 30 hl/ha.
Winemaking and ageing
For Château Troquart 2022, the winemaking process takes place in concrete vats. The wine then benefits from meticulous ageing in oak barrels for 18 months, which provides its complexity and structure.
Grape varieties
70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec.
