Château Lynch-Bages unveils an innovation enhancing the tasting experience of a large format
The estate
Located in the Bordeaux region, Château Lynch-Bages truly came into its own in the 18th century under the impetus of the Lynch family. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, this emblematic estate is today led by Jean-Charles Cazes, representing the family that has owned the property since 1939. With a vineyard of around 100 hectares dedicated to red wines, the estate has established itself as an essential benchmark, a pioneer in wine tourism and renowned for producing wines whose quality often surpasses their official ranking.
The vineyard
The vineyard extends across the famous Bages plateau, in the heart of the Pauillac appellation. The vines benefit from a magnificent gravelly rise overlooking the Gironde estuary, providing a temperate microclimate. The soils, composed of Garonne gravel over a clay-limestone and sandy subsoil, ensure excellent drainage. The vineyard is managed with great precision, with entirely manual harvesting followed by rigorous sorting of the grapes.
An innovation signed Lynch-Bages
The STABILE N°15 2016 is a sculptural object in solid walnut, shaped like a swing-cradle, specially designed in the estate's workshops to accommodate the weight and proportions of the Nebuchadnezzar format (15 litres). Inspired by kinetic art, Russian constructivism and the work of the American sculptor and painter Alexander Calder, its precise counterweighting transforms the technical act of serving into a smooth, controlled movement. The wine itself has an outstanding ageing potential and promises a long evolution in the cellar.
This highly exclusive edition is limited to just 50 pieces and presented in a bespoke wooden case. Furthermore, some bottles of this vintage bear the mention "R.C." (Réserve du Château), meaning they are carefully kept in the estate's cellars, making their availability exceptional.
The vintage
The cool weather and significant rainfall in April and May delayed flowering. The milder conditions recorded between 2 and 12 June allowed for an even flowering. After further rainfall, summer arrived on 25 June. The summer was marked by heat and drought. The rains of 13 September provided the vines with the water needed to revive and complete the ripening of the berries. The very fine late season allowed Château Lynch-Bages to harvest with serenity, giving rise to a truly great vintage.
Winemaking and ageing
The wine is aged in barrels, with a proportion of 75% new oak.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (75%)
Merlot (19%)
Cabernet Franc (4%)
Petit Verdot (2%).
