Decanter

Chocolate, blackcurrant and vanilla with blackcurrant leaf, some liquorice and dried flowers on the nose. Grippy and filling but light on its feet in terms of tannic strength. You get the body, the concentration and the intensity but the fruit purity really stands out – blackcurrant, blueberry and black cherry with lots of fresh mint, graphite, cola and liquorice. Quite a stately wine with a streamlined finish. Still young and firm. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.6pH. A yield of 25hl/ha. 45% grand vin production.

At first, it is the bouquet of flowers that grabs your attention. From there, you notice tobacco leaves, smoke, currants, cedar, and blackberries. On the palate, the wine continues in the right way with its elegant, silky tannins, lush textures, and waves of ripe, dynamic, black fruit, with red fruits, bringing to a fresh, creamy finish. The aging program is 60% new French oak, with a lighter toast, used barrels, and foudres. All the work in the vineyards and cellars has really made a difference here. Drink from 2030-2060. 94-96 Pts

Rich, powerful, deep vivid plum colours, totally love the slate scrape texture here, and curling violet and iris flowers. As is so often the case this year, the wines need to take a beat before the creaminess and cherry pit steps in, love the interplay of gunsmoke and spice. Smooth and silky tannins, good quality with plenty of berry fruits, this has a beautiful balance. 25hl/ha Harvest September 8 to 25. 25hl/ha. Here they chose to prioritise the aromatics for picking and you feel it, but also get that slate texture that brings you to the Médoc. Yield 25 hl/ha. Harvest September 8 to 25. Tasted three times. 25hl/ha Harvest September 8 to 25.

Lascombes’ driving force can be summed up in one word: finesse! The interplay of blackcurrant, raspberry and mint is at its peak. With aeration, floral notes come to the fore, further highlighting the freshness. Juicy and creamy on the attack, the wine shows dense, precise tannins that bring power and structure, while the overall framework champions freshness, expression and length. A savory, elegant and subtle wine whose vigor is seamlessly woven into the whole without ever taking over. It’s a superb exercise in style by the Lascombes team: not to alter the wine’s identity, but to set it back on a path designed to reveal its soul and true nature. Lascombes remains Lascombes—and what’s more, it’s even more Lascombes than before, because it has been brought back to center stage. What a return to its roots!

Deep black colour. Intense, fruity nose, subtle and complex. Full-bodied on the attack, broad on the mid-palate, very flavoursome and barely tannic, the wine develops while constantly playing on the presence of richness and the firmness of the tannins. Great, sappy length. Never have I found it so complete at this age. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13.5% – pH: 3.59 – IPT: 79. Yield: 25 hl/ha.

Vinum

Slightly reductive and still marked by oak, it shows depth: dark fruit, rose hip, vanilla, and tea notes; a dense palate, very well structured, still a bit wild, with pronounced, polished tannins and a lively acid backbone. The wine is powerful yet not heavy; it finishes saline, with fresh red-berry fruit. Can benefit from further aging.
