Château Fayat 2012

This 2012 from Fayat is a deep ruby/purple color and has good ripeness, but wines from this estate always seem to lack complexity and nuance. Overall, it is monolithic and somewhat straightforward. Drink it over the next decade.

Lots of blackberry and dried flower character on the nose for this red, before it gives way to a full body, refined yet firm tannins, fresh acidity and a fresh finish. Drink in 2017.

The 2012 Fayat offers good immediacy but lacks complexity and depth. I would prefer to drink the 2012 over the next few years, while the flavors remain bold and juicy, as there isn’t much material here to allow for aging.

Fayat is a lovely Pomerol with good density and a supple, plush texture.

Wine with a fruity nose, a round, pleasant palate, and medium length.

A briary streak is well-buried in the core of plum sauce, melted black licorice and blackberry coulis flavors. The graphite edge on the finish keeps this balanced while letting the fruit drip. Solid. Drink now through 2020. 4,583 cases made.
