Château du Tertre : Tertre Blanc 2020

An attractive rendition of this idiosyncratic blend of Gros Manseng, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier, the 2020 du Tertre Blanc offers up aromas of citrus blossom, white pepper and stone fruit, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's pure and perfumed.

Bright, light and zippy, with lemon pith, fleur de sel and jicama notes on a wire-thin frame. Shows nice persistence on the finish. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gros Manseng and Viognier. Drink now through 2023. 550 cases made.

Lemongrass, green apple, honeyed caramel and lemon zest on the nose. Lighter and brighter than the 2019, with a slightly more playful and lifted feel to the fruit while still showing the same nuance of texture and flavor—exotic fruits mingling with soft buttery patisserie notes, with bitter and sour touches all coming together to deliver a wonderful mouthfeel and overall flavor. The structure is there, and this is a characterful wine worth seeking out, currently emphasizing bright fruits, with a saline, mineral undertone giving a very clean feeling on the finish.

Lots of sliced cooked apples, lemons and minerals with hints of flowers. It’s medium-bodied with lovely fruit and a creamy finish. Bright and vivid. Always delicious. Chardonnay, viognier, gros manseng and sauvignon.

Flowers, orange rind, white peach, and vanilla notes come through the nose easily. On the palate, the wine is sweet, juicy, and fresh, leaving you with loads of luscious white peaches, tangerine, honey, lemon rind, and vanilla. The wine was vinified in stainless steel and barrel and aged in 100% new French oak barrels. Drink from 2023-2027.

The nose is fruity and elegant, with lovely freshness, fine-grained texture, complexity, subtlety, and a very delicate crunch. It reveals notes of fresh/juicy peach, pulpy/fresh apple, and, more lightly, fresh pear, combined with touches of fresh lemon, mesocarp, and lemon blossom, along with fine hints of quenette, discreet hints of exotic fruit, and a subtle hint of small ripe/fresh yellow fruits. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, and balanced, offering a lovely roundness, gourmandise, a certain crunch, tension, a beautiful fine-grained texture, an airy feel, elongated length, a certain sapidity, and purity. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fresh/bright apple, fresh/bright peach and, more lightly, fresh apricot, combined with touches of fresh lemon and fresh mandarin, as well as fine hints of exotic fruit, a discreet hint of fresh kumquat, and lemon blossom. Good length. An imperceptible almost fresh mango note lingers on the finish.
