A powerful and woody Mercurey wine

The estate

Dating from the 18th century, Château de Chamirey has been owned by the Devillard family for three generations. A benchmark among fine Burgundy wines, the estate reigns over a 37-hectare vineyard that is poised in the heart of the Mercurey appellation.

The vineyard

The 2019 "Clos de la Maladière" by Château de Chamirey is a Mercurey wine that stems from a 1.36-hectare vineyard made up of 3 parcels. This terroir is unique in that it faces south to north on a slightly sloping plot. The vines were planted between 1959 and 1979 on a clay-limestone soil with small pebbles.

Vinification and ageing

Harvested and sorted by hand, the grapes are completely destemmed. Vinification in vats. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 to 5 days. Alcoholic fermentation. Aged for 11 months 100% in oak barrels (25% of which are new) and then for 2 months in vats.

The blend

Pinot Noir (100%).
